Little Tokyo Saturday
Last Saturday, the whole crew, together with our guest Korean, JC, went on a grand eating "tour" of Makati and Ortigas.
First stop was Little Tokyo, this unassuming little Japanese restaurant hub at the side of Makati Cinema Square where one of the best ramens can be found.
They say that when you are inside, it really feels like Tokyo. So, never having been to Tokyo, I am taking their word for it.

We went to Oishinbo (formerly Miyakodori Japanese Restaurant), the first restaurant on the right side of the square and ordered Kani Salad, Seafood Ramen, Yaki Udon, Sushi Platter and Miso Ramen and boy were we all full. Julius and I have been here before already so we know the ramens and sushi are their specialty. Inside Oishinbo, the vibe was also Japanese, with all the cherry blossom decorations, Manga book shelf and the servers in costume. They also have complementary house tea that taste like sesame oil but it was pretty good.
Meals at Little Tokyo are pricier than the regular (say Lavenda, where Julius and I usually get our Japanese food fix for half the price or even 1/3 of the price), but the serving is big enough for sharing.
Little Tokyo restaurants are open for lunch (11AM-2PM) and then for dinner from 5 PM onwards. Too bad we were pretty early, so all the Japanese lanterns haven't been lit. In the evenings, the place is absolutely amazing.
After Little Tokyo, we went to Dome Cafe Legaspi Village, but, to our major disappointment, it was closed. We then went to Greenbelt to look for books for Joshua and I. I wanted 50 Shades but there were no stocks! I also tried National Bookstore and had someone check Fully Booked, but NONE. The book was probably THAT controversial, so I just gave my name and enlisted on que.
After Greenbelt, we also went to Il Mercanti in Metrowalk in search of lechon, but there was none and there were fewer restaurants now than last year. Most of the restaurants were selling carbs (pasta, pizza and rice!) so I opted for Isaw and Corn Dog. Julius got two 1/2 lb burger and two 1/4 lb burger.
We also went to Starbucks to cap the night.
We were all so pooped ;)
